About us
Welcome to Cama Lift ApS, Denmark’s largest and oldest manufacturer and distributor of stairlifts for the disabled. Our history is a beautiful tale of care, ingenuity, and perseverance that began in the heart of North Jutland.
The beginning of a life-changing journey
The story of Cama Lift began when Uffe Mayntzhusen’s father, a principal at a local school, welcomed a new student, a little girl in a wheelchair. The school had multiple floors, and it quickly became clear that the girl would be excluded from parts of the education due to a lack of access. Uffe said to his father, „I’ll solve this.‟
Uffe’s solution was a clever construction that could navigate the staircase using a hand winch. The device was equipped with wheels, allowing it to move across the landing and up the next flight of stairs. This invention marked the beginning of something much bigger.
A friendship and a vision
In 1975, inspired by the hand winch at the school, Uffe Mayntzhusen and his old friend Henrik Carlsen decided to establish Cama Lift ApS. Their first product line consisted of a manual and an electric platform lift. Later, these models were replaced by the Handi-lift 3, which came in both semi-automatic and fully automatic versions. With the introduction of this model, exports really took off, initially to Sweden, Norway, and Germany.
Expansion and innovation
Since then, both the product range and the export market have expanded significantly. Today, we offer three main products: the Cama-lift ML9, the Cama-lift EA9, and the Cama-lift EA6. The ML9 is a vertical lift, the EA9 is designed for straight stairs, and the EA6 is for stairs with turns and landings.
Our production is based in Frederikshavn, where we have a dedicated team of 22 employees. Our facilities include a sales department with a showroom, a design office, and our production unit. This setup allows us to maintain a high level of quality and innovation, ensuring that our products meet the diverse needs of our customers.
Our stairlifts are now exported to Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, and we are proud to help people around the world access areas that were previously out of reach.

Our commitment to sustainability
At Cama Lift, we have always aimed to deliver high-quality products with beautiful design. Our founder, Uffe Mayntzhusen, early on emphasized that our products should have a long lifespan and be adaptable to new environments. Even before sustainability became a global trend, we created solutions that last for many years.
Long lifespan and an early focus on sustainability
At a time when sustainability was not yet a global trend, Cama Lift had already integrated this into our design philosophy. Our products, which often have a lifespan of 15-20 years or more, are due to our persistent focus on using high quality materials. This not only ensures a longer lifespan, but also a minimal environmental impact through fewer replacements and less waste.
Innovative design
A good example of our innovative approach is our straight run lift EA9. Its reversible design makes it easy to move the lift from one place to another without the need for new parts. This was not possible before and is a result of our continuous efforts to improve our products and make them more sustainable.
Durable materials
Our rail systems for both EA9 and EA6 are made of aluminum, which is almost indestructible. This means that even when the lift is worn out, the rail system can be reused, and only a new lift needs to be invested in. Additionally, aluminum is a recyclable material, and we ensure it is sent for recycling, supporting our sustainable practices.
Eco-friendly transport
We have also improved our transportation methods to be more environmentally friendly. Previously, we used wooden crates to ship our lifts, but we have switched to cardboard boxes made from partially recycled paper. When shipping spare parts, we use recycled cardboard boxes filled with compostable biofill to protect the parts during transport.
